Letters of Concern to the Architect Hired to Strip P.S. 64

Read the letters written by every locally elected official to Gilsanz, Murray, Steficek, LLP, the engineering and architectural firm that has provided plans to undertake the removal of the facade for the owner of P.S. 64 -- or, in the words of architectural consultant Andrew Alpern (who represented the owner at a June 6 landmarks meeting), to "scalp" and "denude" the building.

Every community leader has written a letter to express great concern about the architectural firm's involvement with a project that will "deface" an important building, and leaders such as Congresswoman Nydia Velazquez have asked for a meeting to discuss the importance of the building before it is destroyed.
